Port of Pärnu
The Port of Pärnu is located in the southwestern part of Estonia at the mouth of the Pärnu River and in recent years it has become a significant regional port in southwestern and southern Estonia. The hinterland of Pärnu port is Pärnu, Viljandi, Tartu, Põlva, Võru and Valga counties, as well as Lääne and Järva counties. In the hinterland, a significant part of the raw material resources exported through Estonian ports (up to 45% of the forest resource and up to 65% of the peat resource) and the processing industry are located.
AS Pärnu Sadam is the possessor of the Port of Pärnu within the meaning of the Port Act, being the owner of the main port infrastructures. AS Pärnu Sadam organizes ship traffic in the port, provides stevedoring services and manages warehouses and sites in the territory of the port.

Winter features
In winter, Pärnu Bay is usually frozen. The average length of the ice period is two to three months, and an icebreaker is needed to keep the port open. AS Pärnu Sadam takes care of ice breaking in the water area of the port. Ice breaking on the public waterway entering the port is the responsibility of the State Maritime Administration.
